➤ Dornbracht Atelier Handles Sodalite

Form Follows Emotion

In an era marked by volatility and uncertainty, people are increasingly turning inward—seeking authenticity, tranquility, and emotional connection, and in doing so, redefining the very notion of “home.” As the most private area of the home, the bathroom has become a sanctuary for self-reconnection and quiet healing. Pantone’s selection of “Mocha Mousse” as the Color of the Year for 2025 reflects this collective yearning for inner balance and emotional stability.

The 2025 ISH trade fair in Frankfurt, Germany, themed “Solutions for a Sustainable Future,” spotlights innovations in smart technologies that address energy efficiency, water conservation, and recycling. At the same time, design philosophy is shifting from the Bauhaus principle of “form follows function” to a more emotion-driven approach— “form follows emotion.” Through refined craftsmanship, sophisticated material palettes, and nuanced lighting, a new aesthetic of Quiet Luxury is emerging. Global brands are embracing sensory design to create bathroom environments that go beyond utility, offering immersive spaces of calm and understated elegance. In essence, the 2025 bathroom design trend consciously echoes a global shift in values—merging sustainability with aesthetics, technology with emotion—to express a holistic philosophy of living from the inside out.

Debuted at this year’s Milan Design Week, the Opus collection by Italian brand falper, designed by Massimo Castagna, transforms solid glass bricks into weightless compositions. Set atop stainless steel frames with walnut wood bases, the surfaces can be wall-integrated or left freestanding, evoking a floating geometry. With its translucent green tone and softly rippling texture, the handcrafted glass reacts to ambient light—casting luminous reflections that shift throughout the day. Opus is a study in precision, natural materiality, and poetic minimalism—where elegance and innovation quietly converge.
