Home╱Soulfulness

As a result of their similarity in mindset, the owner frequently shares her opinions with designer Hung potung on artists, works of art, and favorite spaces and furniture. He learned about her preferences through the conversation and then figured out the appearance and ambience of the house. Regarding to the space, the owner was particularly fond of a kind of paint during travel and hoped to add it into the design, thus the material was set at the very beginning.

A space can reflect a person’s personality, and the “Soulfulness” space shows that the owner possesses both firmness and softness with rationality in sensibility. From the wide living room to the connecting dining room and the angled kitchen, the traditional layout is transformed into a funnel shape, making the corner corridor created by special angle become the most distinctive area of the house. The design of the wide and flat wooden board integrated with the stable Silestone embedded in the wall located in the kitchen island on the corridor demonstrates the interaction between the stone and the paint. The study room behind the corridor placed an independent desks and bookshelves with notches interpreting the complementarity of paint and wood.

The bookshelf, which is also embedded in the wall, is covered in mineral paint, and its interior is filled with old wooden boards with cutting marks. These wooden boards were used as cutting boards in marble factories while cutting stone slabs with water jets. To avoid excessive shrinkage of the board in the future due to long-term immersion in water, dried waste cutting boards are specially collected, cut into small pieces of wood, and then assembled into a natural symphony to set off books and objects. At the same time, on the living room TV wall, there are also wood nicks with rough and neat surface between the smooth ceiling and the ground, just like the character of the space itself.

Rounded corners bring the house a soft appearance. The concave corner cabinets are used to create practical storage in the curved walls, combining design with life in an invisible way. Such a combination of rigidity and softness is similar to the paper chandelier presented by Italy Lightplus in the dining room; the warm yellow paper precisely layered creates a soft yet striking visual highlight, echoing the owner’s personality. Visitors can recognize the radiance between the home and the owner, which is the actual connotation of “Soulfulness” in the vocabulary and spirit. It can be fully interpreted through space design.
