Located in Alella, Spain, Casa Dosmurs is a minimalist residence that elegantly stands at the intersection of interior and exterior spaces with a humble yet unique presence. Carefully designed by MESURA, the house achieves a balance between openness and privacy, serving as an intermediary between inside and outside, showcasing the harmonious coexistence of architecture and the environment.

Located on the outskirts of Alella, this residential area is surrounded by various architecturally diverse buildings, creating a sense of discord. Despite the steep terrain and close proximity between houses, Alella offers charming sea views. The lower part of the landscape is surrounded by rolling hills and green trees, seamlessly integrating the residence into its natural environment. The design cleverly hides the house from the street view, with two prominent, tall walls following the steep slope, setting it apart from the neighboring constructions, waiting to be discovered by visitors. Two entrances are connected by a staircase along the west wall, while the limited openings on the opposite front preserve privacy. The south-facing facade features a large floor-to-ceiling window, quietly opening a dialogue with nature and allowing residents to immerse themselves in the beautiful landscape.

The overhang of the wide, south-facing windows extends about two meters, a design element that prevents direct sunlight during summer, reducing the need for indoor energy consumption. In winter, even with windows at both ends of the north-south axis allowing air to flow through the interior, the concrete exterior can absorb the ample daytime heat and release it when temperatures drop at night, effectively regulating indoor temperature. The two upper-level bedrooms connect to the outdoor scenery, with one side featuring wooden folding partitions that can be adjusted to provide varying degrees of privacy and ventilation, creating a comfortable and pleasant living environment.

The double-height living space brings the family together, allowing them to share and enjoy every beautiful moment. The flat roof serves as an expansive terrace, providing a place for family and friends to gather, host parties, or simply appreciate the scenery, basking in the warm sunlight and fresh air. Casa Dosmurs does not seek luxury; instead, it combines generous living spaces with humble materials, further realized through efficient construction methods, creating a seamless blend of life with nature, modernity with tradition. With its unique design and excellent craftsmanship, everyday life unfolds in a serene atmosphere, intertwined with the surrounding landscape, forming a tranquil, harmonious retreat in sync with nature.
