RA Home

The foyer is adorned with a radiant family emblem, inspired by the characters “百” (Bai) and “月” (Yue) from the homeowners’ names. With masterful craftsmanship from a Taichung-based sculptor, these characters have been transformed into a decorative pattern, sincerely reflecting the grace and charm of this home. The couple, both electronics engineers with a passion for outdoor camping, formed an excellent team with a designer who shares their logical approach. This collaboration, spanning a year and a half, transformed the home from a bare shell to a finished design. Before finalizing the design, the couple made weekly trips from Hsinchu to Taichung for face-to-face discussions. Their meticulous attention to detail resulted in exhaustive checklists, where every item—from camping gear dimensions to the brand, model, and color of appliances—was carefully selected. These choices became the customized benchmarks for the design, with the home embodying all these tailored needs.

The original three-bedroom layout was reconfigured into two bedrooms, expanding the public spaces to include a spacious foyer, living and dining areas, a coffee nook, and storage. The reorientation of the living and dining rooms naturally enhanced side lighting. Light-filtering curtains softened the incoming natural light, which, combined with the pale wood flooring and luxurious gray ceiling, subtly highlighted the delicate birch wood grain against the calm, dark-toned walls. Every edge of the panels within the home is thoughtfully rounded, adding rhythm and expression to the walls under the interplay of light and shadow. The measurements of each feature corresponded to auspicious characters, reflecting the craftsmanship and well-wishes of the space's creators.

The openness of the public spaces allows for versatile usage. The ample foyer facilitates the organization and storage of large camping gear, serving as a crucial transition between the indoors and outdoors. The dining room cabinetry is multifunctional, providing storage, a display area for fine items, and a countertop. The carefully selected hardware enhances load-bearing capacity, while the matrix-style perforations allow for flexible adjustments of the shelves and hanging accessories. The dining table is also multifunctional, naturally making the dining room the primary spot for the homeowners to enjoy their time at home. The three-part division of the guest bathroom perfectly aligns with the frequency and habits of use. The dark green TV wall is a focal point of the room’s color scheme, extending to the cushion on the foyer's shoe bench, evoking a stunning moment from the homeowners’ travels. The master bedroom continues the serene natural wood tones, with custom-crafted shelves on either side of the bed, featuring hand-rounded edges and finely polished layers that perfectly mirror the shelves on the TV wall, subtly connecting the room’s details with the exterior spaces.

Residential design stems from an interpretation of life, where aesthetics enhance practicality. When conditions permit, the designer visits the homeowner's previous living space, analyzing the current situation, habits, and needs with logical precision. Through passionate communication, these ideas are transformed into a tangible space that embodies the essence of "home." "Design cannot be standardized, and a home cannot be replicated." There is no need to be confined by style; the focus should be on accompanying the homeowner to explore the underlying needs hidden beneath the surface of style. Creating a space that is both heartfelt and functional is the true essence of design service.
