Adhere to a Belief in Quality, Practice the Essence of Architecture

Q: Could you share with us the core philosophy of Vector Architects? How do you communicate this philosophy to the team and translate it into design?

A. The fundamental philosophy of Vector Architects is to approach architectural issues with sincerity, encompassing social, environmental, and cultural aspects. However, while addressing problems, we avoid adopting dogmatic or mechanistic approaches. Recognizing the transformative power of space, I emphasize another crucial aspect: starting from the core problem and ultimately, at the moment of solving it, being able to evoke emotions in those experiencing the architecture.

Instilling a shared philosophy within the team to practice design is a lengthy process. As the firm revolves around my design thinking, it requires injecting energy into a group of thirty to forty young architects who originally had diverse learning paths and different perspectives on architecture. For instance, we place significant emphasis on construction quality. In every project, we deploy on-site architects so they can gradually appreciate Vector Architects' meticulous requirements for quality and precision. This serves as daily training for young architects because, besides possessing creative imagination, impulse, and aspirations, architects also need the resilience to handle everyday trivialities.
