The relationship between a “corridor” and a “passage” is one of subtle intricacy—connecting seamlessly yet maintaining an elusive boundary. In the narrow alleys of historic cities, eaves and steps together outline the contours of pathways, narrating the beauty of time’s traces and the warmth of human stories. Drawing inspiration from this concept, YING TAI INTERIOR DESIGN reinterprets the transitional spaces within a home, blurring the boundaries between areas and softening divisions to create a sense of fluidity—open yet private, connected yet distinct.
The designers departed from traditional wall partitions, opting instead for a more transparent and innovative approach. By introducing volumetric elements, they transcended conventional design norms, enabling a dialogue between sightlines and spaces while preserving a sense of flexible privacy. This delicate balance of openness and independence forms the backbone of the project’s spatial philosophy. Within this framework, the designers employed curtains as a key element of soft partitioning. These lightweight dividers subtly delineate functional zones while maintaining the overall flow of the space. The curtains—neither entirely enclosing nor fully exposing—create a gentle duality, delicately defining the functionality of different areas while complementing the multifaceted ambiance of the home.
