Andres Reisinger Studio

The intervention aims to design a workspace through elements influenced by the existing architecture. A raw space where the concrete structure is exposed in its crudest state. Playing with the counterpoint of the elegance and sophistication of the elements that structure the space. Treated as true sculptures made of stainless steel, the staircase acts as a bridge in the verticality of the space and the kitchen in its horizontality. Elements inspired by the digital world of Andres Reisinger, and that evoke a surreal, dreamlike, and sculptural space.

The space, located in Barcelona, in the neighborhood of Poblenou. With direct access from the street and a large rear terrace. Upon entering from the street, the space has a double roof that leads to a second floor. Dividing the rear façade in two. The first decision was to demolish half of the second floor. Transforming the existing volume composed of two floors with low ceilings to a large open space with a mezzanine in the middle. Allowing the mezzanine to stand out as an architectural element and letting in more natural light.

The materiality of the walls and floor was chosen to match the raw tones and textures of the existing concrete. First the color and texture of the walls was chosen. Finished with a quartz-based paint in the form of paste; “DETALE CPH”. This paint gives the walls an irregular and artisanal look and feel. With a soft touch like velvet but a raw look reminiscent of existing materials. With a gray-beige tone to match the structure and the concrete roof. Through this material, microcement was chosen to have the same tone and textured effect. Creating a monochromatic world.

The space is structured with a large central concrete table attached to one of the pillars.  We wanted to design a table that would continue throughout the space.  A table that will function as a workspace and dining room. As we wanted to keep the table at the same level and emphasize the continuity of the space, we decided to raise the floor of the work area, which in turn helps us to pass the cables to the rack and reinforces the limits of use from the architecture. The pink color of the table allows it to stand out in the rest of the monochromatic space. It is the centerpiece of the studio its form respects the existing architecture of the space. Avoiding curves or ornamental elements, we decided to use straight lines and geometric shapes to reflect the rest of the architecture. An element that was made on-site. With a color that is often used in his work and identifies his studio.

The work area of the table faces the patio with there is more tranquility and light, with large windows breaking the boundary between the interior and exterior.

In the double height area closest to the street, we placed the spiral staircase that leads to the attic where Andres' workplace is.  The staircase is one of the most emblematic pieces of the project. Brought in a single polished piece and placed as if it were a sculpture.

The office with glass partitions on both sides consists of a large table custom made in natural oak finish and a sofa with cushions pink like the concrete table.  Surrounded by the LC7 chairs by Cassina. The intentional use of furniture and lighting that does not follow the typical aesthetics of an office, gives the studio a more comfortable feeling. Creating a space that seems dreamlike, serene and surreal. Merging the lines between the physical world and the digital world.
