Casas Elilula
Lush tropical gardens provide an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle. Casas Elilula, a seaside resort near Praia do Prea in Brazil, offers stunning coastal views. The area's strong winds attract visitors for activities like kitesurfing. Designer Elisa Commanay, driven by her passion for nature, utilized local and modern materials to seamlessly blend the natural elements of the seaside into both outdoor and indoor living spaces, creating a cool and comfortable retreat.
Within this one-hectare site, three distinct projects invite guests to relax and rejuvenate: Casa La beach bungalows, Casa Lu garden suites, and Casa Eli ocean-view private villa. Each project features a thoughtfully designed central pool and garden landscape, enhancing the connection between the structures and the ocean views. Both Casa La and Casa Lu are based on local construction techniques, incorporating concrete slabs, timber structures, and traditional "palha" thatched roofs, embodying principles and commitment to sustainable design.
Rising from the beach, the Casa Eli beach villa boasts stunning views of the garden and the Atlantic Ocean. Constructed with locally sourced materials, its massive timber megastructure defines the villa's shape and rhythm with a cohesive visual appeal. Inside, the double-height spaces include a planted courtyard and shaded terraces, allowing free-flowing air and fostering a seamless connection with nature, enabling guests to feel in harmony with the outdoors even while indoors.
Casas Elilula offers more than just a welcoming stay; its minimalist design and natural materials create a relaxed and tranquil atmosphere, allowing guests to fully experience the charm of a seaside retreat and the local culture. Additionally, the resort hosts the Elilula Collective, an art exchange platform where locals and visiting artists engage in cultural activities, fostering connections between the community and artists.
