This project is situated in the core business district of the Kaohsiung Asia New Bay Area HOPSCA, adjacent to significant infrastructures and transportation nodes such as the China Steel Corporation Headquarters, Hon Hai Technology Group R&D, Software Technology Park, Exhibition Center, Music Center, Main Public Library, and the Transportation Center. With a height of nearly 265 meters, it becomes the tallest premium residential building in Taiwan, integrating residential units with the amenities of a star-rated hotel in a vertical mixed-use structure. This makes it the only hotel-style residence in southern Taiwan, offering appropriately tailored spaces for different residents. This includes a mother who lives in Kaohsiung and a daughter who returns periodically from abroad, providing a dual-function integrated space that meets their individual residential needs.

Surrounded by mountains, sea, river, and harbor, this project, named after a vacation home, spans from left to right, connecting the study, living room, dining area, and bedroom into a spacious 15.5-meter-wide area, as large as half a basketball court. It breaks conventional layouts, frameworks, and the restrictions of high-rise structural beams and columns. Horizontal axis slabs are extended between the window frames and columns, constructing picturesque large-scale framed views. With floor-to-ceiling windows on all sides, natural daylight is maximized, capturing the skyline and seascapes, overcoming the disadvantages of single-sided lighting. This design creates a vacation-like retreat and an age-friendly, barrier-free living space for those returning home.

This building, soaring nearly 70 floors high at the harbor's edge, stands as if it were emerging straight from the ground, reminiscent of a vacation home perched on a cliff's edge, distinguished and peaceful. It overlooks the tumultuous sea and natural rocky coastlines, which are artistically transformed into a multi-tiered ceiling design inspired by ocean waves. The raw steel beams are cloaked in fire-resistant gravel to maintain the ceiling's height, neatly housing structured beams and intricate air conditioning systems. The integrated air vents serve as a crowning feature of the space, adding a touch of finesse.

The space is divided into four main areas: the entrance hall, where a dark wood tone sets a natural scene distinct from the bustling cityscape, calming the mind upon returning home, with practical storage features leaving luggage, germs, and worries at the door; stepping further in, a wide communal area emerges, with physical barriers removed to extend the space into a transparent view. The contrast between the hard lines of the structure and the soft curves of the furnishings freely defines the functional areas; from the communal center, the space is split into left and right sections, the left dedicated to the mother's primary living areas, including the bedroom, study, and bathroom, with glass sliding doors inviting light in to create a sense of purity and transparency; on the right, the daughter's vacation-like retreat is defined by soft curtains, delineating public and private spaces, with the area's function defining the living spaces and adding depth to the space.
