Galeria Apartment

In the bustling urban rhythm where space is a coveted resource, every square meter holds profound value. In São Paulo’s prestigious Jardins district, a couple has chosen to reside in a 420m² apartment within a late-1970s Haussmann-inspired building. Architects Office has meticulously transformed this space into a harmonious blend of elegance, where life and art intertwine. More than a mere living space, the apartment serves as a vessel for daily life, a profound dialogue between design and its inhabitants, and a sanctuary for exploring aesthetics and contemplation.

Sunlight streams through expansive windows, gently casting its glow across the carefully curated furniture and artworks. The interplay of light and shadow moves gracefully, like a symphony within the space. Under the thoughtful design of Gregory Bousquet, every element is purposefully positioned, akin to a flawlessly curated exhibition. The design integrates the organic richness of Brazilian materials with the precise vocabulary of European design, transforming the apartment into a blank canvas for the poetry of everyday life. It reflects a philosophy where living becomes an art form, rejecting the transient in favor of enduring beauty. For the couple, this lifestyle choice embodies a commitment to eschew overconsumption and embrace the timeless value of objects meant to endure and be cherished.

The thoughtful layout designed by Architects Office seamlessly merges beauty with functionality, ensuring every detail serves a purpose while providing comfort. The apartment features a home office, a cinema room equipped with high-quality audiovisual systems, a spacious living room, a dining area, and a wine cellar—spaces designed to foster interaction with friends and family. To preserve the apartment’s original ceiling height, indirect lighting was ingeniously integrated into the sculpted walls, while air conditioning was discreetly concealed within decorative coves. This clever approach ensures the preservation of the apartment’s expansive and classical aesthetic, complemented by modern comforts.

A distinct entry hall sets the stage for the apartment, directing traffic toward various spaces and incorporating cabinetry seamlessly into wood-paneled walls with boiserie details. This functional yet elegant addition serves as a storage area for coats and umbrellas. The living room exudes sophistication, furnished with pieces like the Standard sofa by Edra, Artik armchairs by Baxter, and the vintage Ribbon chair by Pierre Paulin, upholstered in a vibrant burnt yellow fabric. These pieces converge around the Apollo coffee tables by Leo Lague for Micasa, harmoniously blending contemporary and classic styles. Meanwhile, the dining room centers around the Amorfa dining table by Arthur Casas, paired with dark green Senior armchairs by Jorge Zalszupin for Etel, and illuminated by a minimalist black metal pendant with milky glass globes.

Occupying a quarter of the apartment’s footprint, the master suite includes two closets, two bathrooms, and an anteroom. Italian marble adorns the floors and walls, seamlessly connecting with vaulted ceilings to create a luxurious ambiance. The suite features the Redondo bed by Patricia Urquiola, upholstered in a striking indigo fabric, paired with Tempo bedside tables by Olho, Pétala tables by Etel, and Metal Side tables by Vitra. Completing the ensemble are the contrasting Sesann armchair in black leather and the reversible Reversível armchair in off-white fabric, both from Micasa, elevating the suite's aesthetic and comfort.

The attention to detail extends throughout the apartment. In the guest powder room, custom hand-painted wallpaper by artist Nathalie Morhange depicts Brazilian flora and fauna, adding an artistic touch. From furniture selection to art placement and lighting design, every element responds to the couple’s refined taste and profound philosophy of living. Galeria Apartment tells a story of beauty meticulously sculpted in both time and space. The curated pieces, thoughtfully designed for aesthetic and functional longevity, embody cultural value and timeless elegance. This project encapsulates the essence of life as art, where daily living is elevated to a celebration of enduring beauty and meaningful design.
