Naples Street House

Naples Villa quietly stands in Box Hill South, Victoria, Australia, serving as a residence for three generations of a family. Nestled within a row of townhouses, the layout of the house revolves around a central courtyard garden, carefully balancing the relationship between space and void. This design fosters close family connections while maintaining a serene, almost secluded atmosphere. Edition Office meticulously designed the bedrooms to connect with the outdoors, integrating nature as the backdrop of daily life, harmonizing with the changing environment to create a shared rhythm of living.
The villa is surrounded by low-saturated brick walls, forming a solid protective shield. While the exterior may appear reserved, it serves as a steadfast refuge for the family, offering them a secure sanctuary. The uniform brick cladding envelops the exterior walls, extending over the folded and sloping roof forms, mimicking the low-pitched roof designs typical of interwar houses. The interior spaces are arranged around the central courtyard, ensuring that those within the villa enjoy unobstructed views of the sky and surrounding greenery. The continuous corridors seamlessly connect various functional areas while subtly separating the living spaces from the public domains. The residents' lives unfold in harmony with the changing seasons of the garden, allowing them to experience sunlight, gentle breezes, and the flow of air throughout the home. The entire structure seems to breathe deeply, reciting the poetry of nature.

The interior textures and tones are harmonious and calming, gently guiding residents through the various spaces. The undulating ceilings rise to define the main communal areas for cooking, dining, and resting, accented by soft grey tones that highlight the play of light and shadows across the folded surfaces. The wooden textures of the walls add a layer of subtle emotional resonance within the serene environment. Naples Villa is not merely a container for daily life; it is a dynamic and responsive presence. The clear and concise forms interact with both the inhabitants and the environment, allowing every movement within the space to offer a view of the ever-changing natural scenery of the courtyard.
