Retreat Pringiers
Is a private studio of the family Pringiers. It is set in the Polders region, halfway between Ghent and the seaside resort of Ostend, a fairly flat land offering long, peaceful views of green nature. The existing building was originally built in the fourties blending in with the Belgian countryside and its typical rural dwellings. Glenn Sestig had to design an extension to the existing property - a new structure which would be adjacent, although not entirely connected to the house. The entire family loves concrete and architecture, and they wanted a place to both use as a home and for their mother to display her art in.

Both inside and outside surfaces are made in textured concrete bringing us back to some great Belgian architecture, like that from Juliaan Lampens, Léon Stynen and Ivan Van Mossevelde, The result appears simple, monolithic and sculptural. Follow the Belgian rules in terms of the permitted thickness of concrete walls, and the insulation and climate control inside were a priority. Two separate layers of concrete were built - one that forms the outer skin, and another the inner - placing a gap between them for insulation. Both layers were poured in situ.
建築外觀與內部，皆以木紋混凝土灌注建造製成，與比利時歷久不衰偉大的建築有所連結，比如Juliaan Lampens、Léon Stynen 和 Ivan Van Mossevelde 的建築作品。其外觀看起來樸實、一致且雕塑感十足。依照比利時關於混凝土結構牆體厚度規範，內部的隔熱和空氣調節為首要考慮重點，以雙層獨立一次澆灌的混凝土牆面，並在它們之間留出間隙，以進行隔熱作用 - 表面為外層，另一部分則為內層 。
The garden was designed by landscape architect Eric Dhondt and is bordered by a tall, minimalist, concrete wall to ensure privacy to the family, shielding the gallery’s large glass opening towards the outdoors.
花園則由景觀建築師 Eric Dhondt 設計，並以一堵高大、極簡主義的混凝土牆為界，以屏蔽畫廊朝向室外的大型玻璃開口且守護家庭的隱私。
