History is an endless conversation between the present and the past.
1961年，學校創辦人選定淡水校園丘陵花叢一處興建白色別墅樓房提供來賓與校友作為聚會招待之用。2019年，校友會與董事會決議將已年久失修的該建築一樓改造為校史館，二樓則作創辦人紀念館之用，並新增電梯設施以符合友善無障礙校園的需要。
In 1961, the founder of the school chose a location amidst the hilly flower fields of the Tamsui campus to construct a white villa for hosting guests and alumni gatherings. In 2019, the alumni association and the board of directors resolved to renovate the ground floor of this long-neglected building into a school history museum, while the second floor was designated as a memorial hall for the founder. Additionally, an elevator was installed to meet the needs of a barrier-free, accessible campus.
原始構造外表延續淡水校園建築群白色代表色，除了作為中性與安靜的基調，也保留老校友們心裡的記憶。四周綠樹成蔭環抱，正前方則為向下邊坡，經過日照反射影響的檢討，新增構造披覆上鏡面不鏽鋼的外衣，以謙遜的姿態呈現來承載、反映周邊環境綠意。基於室內動線設定依循展示內容的分類與排序，一層主出入口位移至原本建物最邊陲的車庫位置。外牆鏡面不鏽鋼延伸至原本低矮的車庫，並刻製校訓文字於其上，浮現於倒映借景校園綠意的半戶外的路徑，作為空間述事的開場。
The exterior of the original structure continues the representative white color of the Tamsui campus buildings. Serving as a neutral and calm backdrop, it also preserves the memories cherished by the alumni. Surrounded by shady green trees and facing a downward slope in front, the new additions are clad in mirrored stainless steel. This reflective surface, carefully considered for its impact under sunlight, humbly carries and mirrors the surrounding greenery. The interior circulation is designed to follow the categorization and sequence of the exhibits, with the main entrance on the first floor relocated to the position of the original building's most peripheral garage. The mirrored stainless steel of the façade extends to the formerly low-rise garage, where the school's motto is inscribed. This emerges on the semi-outdoor path reflected in the mirrored surface amidst the campus's greenery, setting the stage for the space's narrative.
除了線性前行的時間軸設定，空間、人物亦是造就歷史的關鍵，空間的配置與動線的穿叉表達歷史是現在與過去永無止盡的對話與未來的宣言。在實務落實上，設計者以天花高低差的傾斜方式並考量觀看者視角，將展示牆面"掀"至高度的極致，也隱蔽照明、空調、消防等設施以洗練空間輪廓。根據導覽的節奏與內容的屬性，設計者亦於天花設置圓形曲面的變化暗示轉折的節點，提供內聚、停留、解說、討論等行為氛圍的烘托。
In addition to the linear progression of the timeline, space and characters are key elements in shaping history. The arrangement of spaces and the interweaving of movement paths express that history is an endless conversation between the present and the past, as well as a declaration for the future. In practical implementation, designers use the inclination of varying ceiling heights and consider the viewer's perspective to elevate the display walls to their utmost height, while also concealing lighting, air conditioning, and fire safety facilities to refine the space's contours. In tune with the rhythm of the tour and the nature of the content, designers have also incorporated circular curved surfaces in the ceiling to subtly indicate turning points, fostering an atmosphere conducive to cohesion, lingering, explanation, and discussion.
型隨機能的機緣讓動線安排的尾聲是挑高的電梯梯廳的增築。穿過一連串既定高度的侷限與持續閱讀的積累，結尾是空間高度的解放與當下校園和山下淡水的景致。運用感受、知覺、經驗的轉折操作，無止盡的對話安排不言可喻。
The design that follows function has led to the climax of the circulation layout being the addition of a high-ceilinged elevator lobby. Passing through a series of predetermined height constraints and the accumulation of continuous reading, the conclusion is a liberation of spatial height and a present view of the campus and the Tamsui area below the hill. By employing shifts in sensation, perception, and experience, the arrangement of an endless conversation is self-evident.
