Williamsburg Townhouse
Nestled in the heart of Brooklyn, this townhouse has been thoughtfully transformed by local studio Brent Buck Architects into a refined dialogue between past and present. The historic red brick façade has been carefully restored, while the newly added volumes—clad in limewashed brick and copper—introduce contemporary elements that feel both natural and quietly expressive. A new rooftop terrace offers sweeping views of the New York City skyline, inviting moments of reflection amidst the evolving urban landscape.
At the rear, six expansive windows open the living and garden levels to an abundance of daylight, blurring the boundary between interior and exterior. Sunlight pours over a sculptural stair that spirals upward through the home, carving out a spatial rhythm and animating its architectural form. The same light grazes exposed beams, flooring, and window frames—each crafted from heart pine salvaged from a 19th-century New York building. Preserved nail holes, weathering, and surface checks offer a subtle yet poignant trace of the material’s storied past.
