The exhibition director, Shunji Yamanaka, is a design engineer working in a wide range of industrial products, and studying prototypes crystallized from cutting-edge technologies. What kind of future do we see? This question might sound too vast and vague. Perhaps its contours cannot even be imagined. Yet that is exactly why creators dream such numerous possibilities. Envisaging a world more beautiful, more surprising and more attractive than what we have now, they test this future through prototyping. We may not have a clear image of what is in store, but we can delineate parts, on the basis of what has already been invented. These objects we call “Future Elements.”
 
 

展覽總監山中俊治是一位設計工程師，他從事廣泛的工業產品開發，並研究由尖端技術結晶出的原型。我們能看到怎樣的未來？這個問題可能聽起來太過廣泛且模糊。也許它的輪廓甚至無法想像。但這正是為什麼創作者夢想如此眾多的可能性。他們設想一個比現在更美、更令人驚喜、更吸引人的世界，通過原型化來測試這個未來。我們可能沒有一個清晰的未來形象，但我們可以根據已經發明的事物描繪部分輪廓。我們稱這些物件為「未來元素」。

The exhibition centers on Yamanaka’s prototypes and robots, from initial sketches made in collaboration with fellow researchers at his university lab, through to completion. Also included are collaborative works by seven teams of designer-creators and scientist-engineers from different fields. Exhibits come from encounters of pioneering gaze in cutting-edge technological research and design. This is what we mean by “Future Elements.”
 

展覽主要圍繞山中的原型和機器人，從他與大學實驗室的同事共同完成的初步草圖，一直到最終產品。展覽還包括來自七個不同領域的設計師-創造者和科學家-工程師團隊的合作作品。展品來自於在尖端技術研究和設計中先驅性視角的相遇。這就是我們所說的「未來元素」。

The exhibition will be a place where divergent viewpoints interact, and where the imagination runs freely. We hope visitors will enjoy engaging with all these possibilities, woven through a combination of science and design. Those coming to the exhibition will be exposed to visions of designs that advance towards a future which we cannot yet see.

 

展覽將是一個不同觀點互動，想象力自由奔放的地方。我們希望參觀者能享受與這些可能性的互動，這些可能性是科學與設計的結合編織而成的。來參展的人將會接觸到那些走向我們尚未能看見的未來的設計願景。
