The Logic of Simplicity, Where Stillness Finds Its Home

Q. “There is no formula for living, nor for design.” How do you integrate the client’s lifestyle and imagination into a space, balancing beauty and function within a seemingly pure composition?

A. Everyone defines warmth and comfort differently—and subjectively. My process begins with understanding each client’s conditions and values, then editing with restraint: decluttering, discarding, and simplifying. I reduce unnecessary decoration, let function take precedence, and find balance among proportion, material integrity, and spatial clarity. Purity is not about surface form. It emerges from observing how people live—their routines, gestures, and behavior—and guiding the quiet subtraction that lets the essence remain.

The Logic of Simplicity, Where Stillness Finds Its Home

If minimalism is not merely the stripping away of ornament but a way to answer the essence of living, then purity is where one finds inner stillness and ease. This sensibility defines 2BOOKS Design Studio, where design director Jeff Weng spoke with the WABISABI team about a practice grounded in clarity, utility, and restraint. Inside the studio’s airy interior, whites and soft greys set a calm field of vision: light passes through glass, glides across white walls, brushes the ironwork, and wanders slowly across the floor. Crisp lines trace a composed scene as gentle music softens the room’s cadence. In this tempered light and tone, 2BOOKS’ view of minimalism becomes clear—it is not a style, but a truthful way of inhabiting life.
