“Chemistry Beautifying Life” is the key phrase that guides AICA. While many objects exude beauty, they are not merely emotional in nature; they also involve rational, scientific dimensions. 「依據我之前曾赴往各國出差的工作經歷，發現與他國相比，日本商品在台灣銷售占比居高。」台灣愛克副總經理堀部敬昌分享道。除了技術上的改革，愛克也善於洞察趨勢，發覺裝飾性板材在台灣是具有一定市場的人氣商品，加上國內廚房壁面多使用帶有玻璃質感的面材。不禁思考，若是將在日本廣受好評的裝飾性耐燃愛克板帶入台灣，無論在設計感或便利性應該也能獲得迴響。

Uncovering New Opportunities in Taiwan: Embracing Diversity and Inclusion

“From my previous overseas assignments, I noticed that compared to other markets, Japanese products enjoy a particularly high market share in Taiwan,” observes Mr. Masanori Horibe, Assistant General Manager at Taiwan AICA. Beyond technological progress, AICA is adept at identifying emerging trends, recognizing that decorative panel products have substantial appeal in Taiwan. Coupled with the local preference for glass-like finishes in kitchen backsplashes, AICA saw an opportunity to introduce its top-rated Japanese decorative, fire-resistant boards to Taiwan. Marrying design flair with practical convenience, these panels have shown strong potential to resonate with Taiwanese consumers.

然而，愛克剛踏入台灣市場初期，不免遇到重重阻礙。一方面，在價位上需與國內品牌競爭，另一方面，基於文化風情不同，亮色木紋系列在日本雖受歡迎，但當時在台的接受度就差強人意。一直以來，愛克每年都會舉辦當代建築研討會，並參與海內外的建材設計的展覽。根據整個市場的潮流變換，找尋適合台灣市場的裝修喜好，開始增加石紋、抽象花色與豐富色調，將其揉合至品牌本身的專業技術和美學理念，持續開發具有設計感和機能性高的耐燃板材系列，明年更預計推出同色系連動花色的裝飾板，以及啞光質地的新系列產品，與國內設計元素交織出間多元層次。

However, AICA’s early foray into the Taiwanese market was not without hurdles. Price competition with local brands was one challenge, while cultural differences presented another. For instance, brighter woodgrain finishes, popular in Japan, did not initially gain the same traction in Taiwan. Undeterred, AICA hosts annual architectural seminars and participates in design expos both at home and abroad, continuously tracking global and local aesthetic shifts. Based on these market insights, the company expanded its offerings to include stone patterns, abstract motifs, and a broader palette of colors, blending these with its hallmark technical expertise and design philosophy. Looking ahead, AICA plans to roll out coordinated color collections and matte-finish product lines in the coming year, weaving local design elements into a broader tapestry of creative possibilities.

Though AICA has been cultivating the Taiwanese market for over a decade, it formally established a local subsidiary just two years ago. Recognizing that Taiwan already boasts numerous well-known decorative board manufacturers, the company focuses on respecting local culture and brand identity while enhancing the functional and aesthetic aspects of its panels. This includes offering an integrated range of trim and edging tools that seamlessly coordinate with AICA boards. On the marketing side, AICA’s partnership with Wilsonart Asia Pacific will officially merge in 2024, further boosting brand recognition and aiming to move closer to an “Only One” ideal in Taiwan—an aspiration that underscores the company’s commitment to solidifying its brand image and pioneering design excellence in this vibrant market.
