Naked

The harmonization achieved using low color saturation colors creates an elegantly pure and tranquil living atmosphere. With various white artistic coatings, light and shadow accentuate the form of the space. The interlocking wood, like a border, outlines the structure of the household. The designer illustrates the concept of "naked" with these complementary relationships (white skin, warm wood flesh) for the abstract, sculptural, and layered single-story house.

This relationship between flesh and skin originates from the homeowner's imagination of the home. The homeowner articulated his preference for minimalist design, desiring a minimalist space with as few traces of life as possible and presenting a blank, naked simplicity. While the living room frame is crisp, a decorative chased column protrudes from the foyer along the wall. The designer chuckled upon the seemingly useless nature of this column, as its presence seems to serve no function, the distinction between the inside and outside areas still marked by its location. The entrance floor and the TV wall share the same travertine. One uses 20x20cm square tiles woven vertically and horizontally, and another decorates the whole piece of the travertine to create a connection. The TV wall features a deliberately scaled-down mirror plate surface above to develop a sense of extension. This design concept creates a sense of drama. At the same time, the wooden cabinet below is designed with a slight overhang to amplify the three-dimensional layers. The opposite main wall of the living room also used the same approach of mirror plate extension. Adjacent to the mirror, the bookcase with folding doors is covered with soft bandages similar to the ceiling paint color. The folding panels are delicately proportioned to reveal the wood tone of the cabinet, echoing the relationship between the flesh and the skin. As for the walkway space extending forward to the ceiling, it contains three kinds of paints at the same time: stucco paint for the wall, Malay paint for the top of the walkway, and lime stone paint for the ceiling, each with different textures of light and dark to show the multiple surfaces of white, through which the shimmering light forms the shape of the space, between visible and invisible, leading to the abstraction and layers of "nakedness."
"The key is to address the homeowner's needs through creativity," said the designer, elaborating on the project's spirit. For example, they created a framework to hide refrigerators and maintenance holes, Because the homeowner doesn't like to see them daily. An open kitchen is constructed as a rectangular box to accommodate the refrigerator, enabling the view from the living room to be confined to a short flat wall. In contrast, a box is added to the exterior of the kitchen to create a box-like interior. With the combination of square and curved lines, the kitchen island bar extends the curved horizontal and vertical lines on the surface to enhance the level of refinement. At the same time, the maintenance holes are masked with concave shafts to create a spatially contoured voxel.
On a stable and smooth frame, it integrates the functionality and art in the optimal proportion to compose the home's appearance.

Materials in this house consist of paint, white travertine, and solid wood veneer. However, these materials are uniform and simple. The design team attempted to identify subtle variations in the different widths of the wood grain and the different shades of the paint. To present an unintentional abstract image, echoing minimalism with nakedness, reserving the remaining space for the homeowner to interpret in a way that is ideal for their residential vision.
