Yasuyuki House

The design of the house is like the designer accompanying the homeowner on a journey to gather the imagination of the "home" space. Initially, the homeowner offers a wide variety of references, but is unable to really touch on his heart's desire, until the homeowner talks about his love for Andou Tadao's architectural works during the communication process, at which point a thousand thoughts gradually become clear. 
 
The homeowner's family of four is currently living abroad and wants a "flexible" space design that could welcome the homeowner back to his home country at any time and rent it out beforehand. "Flexibility" is actually a test of the designer's mastery of space. "While thevolume and function of the bedroom space is relatively clear, the public space may be more flexible and changeable", using the design interface to make part of the space flexible between independent (private) and open (public). In addition to setting up the necessary storage cabinets, no fixed furniture is provided, so that homeowner and renters can use the space according to their different living needs - "simple and pure" thus achieving the greatest flexibility.
The ceiling is painted with a mineral-like surface texture, and the shadows created by the light sink create an understated expression, forming a dialogue between top and bottom, light and shadow, with the linear panel lights along the corners. At the entrance, a floor of the same color as the ceiling extends all the way to the kitchen, forming an interesting interface with the white oak island-shaped flooring in the living and dining rooms. The wooden flooring extends to the studio, bedroom and dressing room, and in the corridor where public and private meet, the same white oak wood is used to wrap the façade and ceiling, forming a hint of the transitional nature of the space.
 
The original 1.5 bathrooms were upgraded to 2 sets, and the sliding doors of the corridor were used to make the guest bathroom an integral private space with the bedroom when necessary. A semi-circular window in the guest bathroom brings in sunlight from the direction of the studio, and the ceiling has been transformed into a curved shape with the window shape, and the same shape is extended to the master bathroom, breaking the rigid framework of the rectangular shape of the bathroom. The sunlight through the window not only brightens the bathroom, but also creates a variety of light and shadow changes over time in the pure curved geometry.
"After solving the overall problem, the rest of the space will naturally grow into the way it should be". No need for more ornaments or techniques, just let the space grow from the heart, reflecting the needs of the owner and the way of the designer.

住宅設計就像是設計者陪伴屋主一同走過凝聚對「家」空間想像的旅程。最初,屋主主動提供了種類龐雜的參考資料,卻未能真正觸及心之所向,直到溝通過程中,屋主談及喜愛安藤忠雄的建築作品,千頭萬緒在此刻逐漸有了清晰輪廓。

 

屋主一家四口目前旅居國外,希望空間設計能具有「彈性」,隨時可以迎接屋主回國定居,又可在此之前出租。「彈性」實則更考驗設計者對於空間的掌握度。「臥室內空間量體及機能是較為明確的,公共性空間則可能有較多的彈性與變動」,運用設計界面使部分空間產生獨立(隱私)與開放(公共)之間相互調度的靈活性;除了設置必要的收納櫃體,不配置固定家具,使屋主與租賃者能依據不同生活需求進行空間運用──「簡單、純粹」因此成就了最大的彈性。

確認家庭成員所需後,原四房兩廳格局變更為2-3房的可變動格局,並將中一房空間打開後讓予平時喜愛下廚的男主人,中島式廚房可於烹飪料理時與家人互動,鄰接的工作室空間以上軌道聯動式全開玻璃門為隔間,不但具視野穿透性,更能在必要時成為餐廳空間的延伸。入門玄關處加設了一間小書房,因應疫情進行居家辦公時,男女主人能有獨立的工作空間。

 

天花板以礦物性塗料呈現出如清水模般的表面紋理,並且透過燈槽創造的陰影刻劃出低調的表情,與沿牆角設置的線板燈,形成上與下、光與影的對話。入門處,一道與天花板相同顏色的地板一路延伸到廚房形成一方天地,與客廳、餐廳的白橡木海島型地板形成有趣的銜接。而木地板則延伸到工作室、臥室、更衣室等空間,並且在公共性與隱私性交界的穿廊中,以相同的白橡木材質包裹住立面與天花板,形成空間過渡性質的暗示。

原本1.5套衛浴間提升為2套,並運用穿廊的拉門設計,讓客浴室在必要時成為與臥室一體的私人空間。客浴室一扇半圓形的窗,將來自工作室方向的陽光引入,天花板也隨著窗型變化成弧形,相同的造型並延伸到主浴室,打破浴室矩形的僵硬框架。陽光透窗戶不但讓浴室變得明亮,更在純粹的弧形幾何中,隨時間形成各種不同的光影變化。「解決整體性的大問題後,其餘的空間自然就會長出應有的模樣」,無須多餘的文飾或著墨於技巧,讓空間隨心而生,映照擁有者的需求,也反射出設計者心中之道。
