211 — House with a Large Porch

The architectural firm MIDE Architetti, based in Venice, is renowned for its unique design approach and meticulous attention to detail. "211 — House with a Large Porch" is not just a building, but a reinterpretation of the site's characteristics, blending the client's needs with the environment and highlighting their precise mastery of spatial perception and material selection.

The client for this project desired a simple and modern residence that could fully enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding park. To achieve this, MIDE Architetti designed a single-story building to ensure that each space would enhance perception and maximize the experience of the natural environment. The centerpiece of the house is a spacious living room facing south, where large doors and expansive glass seamlessly integrate the indoor and outdoor spaces. The living room, designed as a glass box, captures and reflects the park's scenery, allowing occupants to fully indulge in the natural beauty from within the home.

The sleeping area in the bedroom provides both privacy and a subdued atmosphere. Through the use of geometrically shaped concrete walls, the bedroom maintains a connection with the verdant outdoor garden and natural light, offering a quiet and private resting space. This contrast enhances the architectural depth and creates a distinctly different living experience.

It is worth noting that the flat roof of this building is designed not only for aesthetic purposes but also for functionality. It provides adequate protection for the interior from ultraviolet rays and air pollution. Additionally, the porch features courtyards, where trees are planted to further enhance the interaction between the building and its surrounding environment.

MIDE Architetti deliberately limited the budget, using simple and modest materials to strengthen the overall concept of this project. In selecting materials, they combined glass, wood, and a specially formulated low-chroma red concrete hue with Venetian terrazzo flooring. This combination creates a modern yet harmoniously natural ambiance that coexists with the surrounding environment.

This project showcases the unique ingenuity of MIDE Architetti, not only in its distinctive minimalist appearance but also in seamlessly blending all functional aspects of home living with aesthetics. They have created an ideal dwelling that is both uplifting and integrally connected with nature.
