The Infinite Rise House

This building is nestled within mountain ranges, offering a 180-degree view of the expansive peaks, with a magnificent deep valley in front. As architects, we were committed to preserving the natural landform, particularly the site’s natural rock bed. Although the site had already been excavated to a depth of 6 meters when we first visited, we effectively utilized the existing terrain to craft a structure oriented towards the valley. Moreover, the site is rich in rock formations, with an average slope variation of 2 to 4 meters.

The design focuses the spaces towards the valley, with an open courtyard in the center that aids in natural lighting and ventilation. However, the site is characterized by strong winds, which, if the building were fully exposed, could challenge the structural integrity of glass facades and generate significant noise. To address this primary challenge—maintaining exceptional views while preventing direct wind intrusion—we collected all the rocks from the site to construct gabion walls. These walls were designed according to human scale, allowing residents to enjoy views of the surrounding valley from both direct and indirect perspectives.

This interplay of visible and hidden elements creates intriguing scenes that encourage further exploration of the space. This concept is central to the function of the gabion walls, allowing views of the mountain range from various angles. The walls between spaces are constructed of rammed earth, with the soil sourced directly from the site, simplifying the construction process. The flooring is made of green oxide materials, which help maintain a cool and comfortable indoor environment. During summer, temperatures in the area rise significantly, so the oxide flooring and open courtyard contribute to keeping the interior refreshingly cool.

The water feature situated between the rooms and the gabion wall helps reduce the temperature of air as it flows from outside to inside. All the wood used throughout the residence was sourced from reclaimed materials and repurposed for doors, bar counters, bar stools, armchairs, and cabinets. The infinity pool offers an unparalleled swimming experience, with the entire valley spread out before you. This house, using entirely sustainable materials, blends seamlessly into the surrounding environment, serving as a bridge between humans and nature.
