Surrounded by flowing water and shimmering reflections, the serene and elegant community space is gently touched by a breeze that carries a refreshing sense of calm. Unlike typical residential lobbies and common areas, the path home for HOKI residents seems like a journey across water before entering the lobby. Design Apartment is designed to bring nature indoors, creating a seamless connection between the natural landscape and the interior environment. As people walk through the space, they find their thoughts gradually settling. The large windows around the space subtly blur the boundaries between indoors and outdoors, fostering a sense of harmony with nature and providing a more expansive sensory experience. With this concept in mind, the ceiling features a neutral, saturated gray tone, representing the flowing imagery of valleys. The undulating contours evoke the rise and fall of the terrain, extending horizontally with continuous curves that connect various spaces, much like the flowing water outside. These natural elements softly extend into the interior, forming a serene indoor landscape.
The dark-colored flooring directs the horizontal flow of movement within the space, imparting a sense of stability. In contrast to the ceiling’s fluid curves that evoke a valley stream, the floor balances the visual weight of the space. The reception desk, accented with terrazzo, adds a lively touch, while the eye-catching tubular lighting fixture above introduces warmth into the space. Together with the expansive windows, these elements extend the visual experience, blending the dynamic outdoor environment with the organic atmosphere indoors. The mirrored ceiling amplifies the perception of the valleys' highs and lows, creating a sense of endless visual depth that enhances the space’s dramatic tension. Sunlight streaming into the reception area brings out a lively character in the otherwise subdued tones, while the carefully chosen furniture adds a light, refined touch to the room’s calm ambiance.
The mailbox area is conveniently arranged to serve residents returning home. As one progresses down the corridor to the end, a mirrored wall encases the space, with a spiral staircase acting as a bridge between the audiovisual room on the first floor and the spaces above, guiding residents to the gym. The audiovisual room, ideal for family gatherings, and the gym above are designed with a soft earthy palette that reflects the natural sunlight and greenery outside, capturing the essence of modern leisure. Whether residents are gathering on the first floor or working out alone, they can always enjoy the soothing view of the community’s outdoor greenery.
The community offers a variety of communal spaces. Beyond the elevator lobby, the cool tones of the main corridor give way to a reading area, meeting rooms, and a culinary classroom. These spaces, featuring low-saturation hues, harmonize with the courtyard’s greenery. In the reading area, two independent study rooms are thoughtfully provided, offering children a flexible learning space. The culinary area serves as a versatile interactive space for residents with shared interests. The design harmonizes the elongated kitchen island with linear metal lighting fixtures and a suspended range hood, skillfully minimizing the impact of low beams and creating a cohesive visual experience. This carefully considered design not only brings balance to the space but also meets the diverse needs of the community.
