Residence W2
caps_A design studio summarizes the project with a simple intent: “A home should reflect its owner.” This residence marks the studio’s third collaboration with the homeowner, a long-standing relationship that has allowed the designers to understand not just habits, but temperament. The result is a home that gathers present routines, carries traces of past years, and leaves room for a future still taking shape.
The homeowner’s daily life is marked by ritual—seasonal decorations, shifting displays, small gestures that renew the atmosphere. To accommodate this fluidity, the designers established a white envelope as a steady backdrop, allowing objects and accents to stand out with clarity. The American-style moulding the homeowner loves is reinterpreted with more restrained proportions; its fine profiles lend a measured elegance without overwhelming the space.
To echo the owner’s straightforward, lively personality, the designers introduced a metallic-painted TV wall and a metal-finished kitchen island. Their subtle sheen cuts through the softness of the palette, adding a precise, contemporary edge. The open living and dining area extends toward the terrace, forming a generous axis ideal for gatherings. The homeowner often hosts barbecues and casual parties, and the continuous layout allows for easy interaction across the space. For quieter moments, a semi-open nook—reminiscent of a café window seat—offers a place for breakfast, reading, or meeting close friends. Its partially framed openness maintains visual continuity, letting sunlight and conversation move freely.
Memories from previous homes are threaded gently into the new interior. A black-and-white checkerboard marble floor in the foyer recalls the owner’s first apartment, while a bathroom tiled in blue-and-white checks offers a softer echo. Furniture acquired over years of travel and work in the fashion industry—sofas, tables, bed frames—settles naturally into the new setting, forming a dialogue between past and present. Custom cabinetry is fitted with solid brass handles selected for their proportion and tactile presence. They will develop a patina over time, recording daily touch and slowly marking the home with lived character.
